The school of Marxism offers the courses of Value, Morality and Rule of Law, Conspectus of Chinese Modern History, Fundamental principles of Marxism, An outline of Mao Zedong Thought and Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, Situation and Policy and so on. There are 6 teaching and research sections, 1 research institute of current policy. The school has multiple teaching and scientific research platforms including the Studio of Universities Masters of Ideological and Political Theory courses in Liaoning Province, the Research Base of Philosophy and Social Science in Shenyang (called Research Center of Party Construction Theory).

The school boasts a high-level teaching staff led by excellent professors, doctors and famous teachers in this academic field. 40% of them have deputy senior titles or above. Many teachers are selected into the program of National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project, or served as the deputy director of the teaching steering committee of ideological and political theory courses in universities of Liaoning Province, the director of the teaching steering Committee of ideological and political theory courses in private universities, the leading teachers of middle-and-young age in the ideological and political theory courses in universities of Liaoning Province. Many teachers won the first prize of teaching competition of the ideological and political theory courses in universities of Liaoning Province. 100% of middle-and-young aged teachers got the teaching prize above city-level in the ideological and political theory courses.

The school has formed a trinity teaching mode of the Ideological and political courses of "classroom teaching, extracurricular reading and social practice", constantly enhancing pertinence, sense of the times and learning attraction. It devotes to carry out curriculum reform of the course called Value, Morality and Rule of Law, and to innovate the teaching model of all-staff education. We combine theory teaching with group discussion of tutorial courses in order to improve the effectiveness of ideological and political education. Through extracurricular activities of "Reading Classics and Understanding Principles", we guide our students to study Marxism classics, enrich their knowledge and broaden their horizons.

After years of educational practice, the school of Marxism has made fruitful educational achievements and produced extensive influence. SYCU has rated as the comprehensive reform demonstration university of Three-wide education. The course of Value, Morality and Rule of Law has awarded as the first-class undergraduate course in Liaoning Province, the ideological and political theory course in first-class universities in Liaoning Province, and the ideological and political course of demonstration class in Liaoning Province. The courses of Value, Morality and Rule of Law, Conspectus of Chinese Modern History, Situation and Policy have won the first prize of Excellent Teaching Plan of Ideological and political theory course in universities in Liaoning Province.
