The calligraphy and painting art troupe cultivates students'calligraphy and painting skills, improves students'artistic cultivation, and fosters students'ideology and sentiment. Through mastering calligraphy and painting skills, students can understand the basic knowledge of calligraphy and painting, deepen their understanding and perception of Chinese traditional culture, and improve their aesthetic style. The course “Practice and Appreciation of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Art” is open to freshmen.
The calligraphy and painting group takes calligraphy, seal cutting and painting as the carrier, selects soft pen calligraphy, hard pen calligraphy, meticulous painting, freehand painting and seal cutting as the training subjects, and adopts the methods of collective teaching, individual practice and public exhibition and evaluation, so that each student can learn one calligraphy and painting skill and complete two calligraphy and painting works. -
The calligraphy and painting group has calligraphy and painting studios, workshops and public exhibition halls, covering an area of more than 300 square meters. It can undertake the teaching and rehearsal tasks of more than 300 students every year. The May Art Festival, the National Day Calligraphy Competition and the New Year Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition are the art festivals carefully created by the calligraphy and painting troupe.

Zhao Yue, the instructor of the calligraphy and painting troupe, graduated from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, member of Liaoning Artists Association and director of Shenyang Female Calligraphers Association. The group paintings of “1931” won the excellent award for the “Creation of Major Historical Themes in Liaoning Province” and were collected by the Liaoning Provincial Museum. In 2019, it won the second prize of the Academic Exhibition of Chinese Painters in Jilin Province. “The Glorious Years” was selected into the art exhibition of the comprehensive painting category by Art Committee of Liaoning Artists Association.
Since its establishment, the calligraphy and painting troupe has won 7 national art exhibition awards and 26 provincial art exhibition awards, including the first prize of the 13th National Aesthetic Education Teaching Achievement Exhibition in 2019; 5 first prizes and 2 second prizes in the sixth College Students’ Art Exhibition in Liaoning Province in 2020; the first prize of the fourth Network Culture Festival of Liaoning Province in 2020; the first prize in the third Liaoning Chinese Classics Recitation and Writing Competition in 2021; the first prize in the “Great Beauty Liaoning” college art design competition in 2021.
