The water sports club cultivates the students' willpower of tenacious struggle, team spirit of unity and cooperation, and persistent sports habits. It has two sports: swimming and kayaking. Students can understand the basic knowledge of water sports, be familiar with competition rules and referee methods, and master the basic skills of swimming and kayaking through activities, training and competitions in one academic year. After passing the examination, they will obtain 2 credits.
The club adheres to the purpose of "building a water sports team in Northern University". It is committed to individualizing teaching contents and diversifying teaching forms, paying attention to interest guidance, carrying out group teaching and graded assessment, so that students can enjoy fun in activities, improve their ability in training and gain friendship in competitions. -
The water club has 40 ordinary teaching teams and 4 high-level sports teams, which can undertake the training task of 230 people every year. The water club has an indoor swimming pool and an outdoor water training base. The swimming pool has five 25 meter long swimming lanes, and the Green Island Lake water training base covers an area of nearly 130000 square meters, providing good conditions for swimming and kayaking training. The training scene of kayaking and chopping in the water training base has become a beautiful scenery on the campus.

Zhang Wantao, instructor of water club, lecturer, master, graduated from Shenyang Institute of physical education, national second-class swimmer, first-class referee of football and swimming, national intermediate swimming coach and lifeguard, and won the honorary title of "excellent coach" of provincial swimming competition.
Since its establishment, the water sports club has participated in national and provincial water sports competitions for many times. In 2018, it won the championship of China Rowing masters in Shenyang. In 2019, it won the third place in the men's team and the fourth place in the women's team of the university group of the China Rowing Masters (Shenyang station). It won the first place in men's and women's mixed double boat in Shenyang College Students' kayaking Invitational Competition, and won the first place in women's single boat and the second place in men's single boat. In Liaoning University Student Swimming Championships, it ranked fourth in women's 50m freestyle, fourth in men's backstroke and fifth in men's breaststroke.
